According to a statement by NAF, the move is part of efforts towards coping with the dynamism of emerging security threats.NAF said it is adopting the new concept of base defence to protect its air assets and critical installations.Aside reorganising, retraining and re-equipping the Regiment Specialty to effectively defend NAF Bases against attacks, the Service has also employed the use of Closed Circuit Camera to provide surveillance around perimeter fences of NAF Bases while monitoring the entire Basefrom the Base Defence Coordination Centre.Under the new concept, effort is geared towards expanding the Regiment Specialty to be able to take over all ground defence duties with a view to securing NAF Bases and critical assets.

AN artisan, Okwudili Nwodo, is in police net in Enugu for repainting stolen vehicles.It was learnt that Nwodo worked with a car-snatching syndicate, which usually supplied him with stolen cars to repaint. The vehicles were subsequently sold to unsuspecting members of the public. It was gathered that various stolen vehicles were recovered in Nwodo’s shop, located on Presidential Road, Enugu, when he was arrested by operatives of the Enugu State Police Command.

Abducted UBTH nurse freed

                             

A 44-year-old woman, Mrs. Rita Aiwelera, who was kidnapped by gunmen at Ugbowo in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, has been released.It was learnt that the victim, a nurse with the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, was released at about 10pm last Saturday, nearly a week after she was abducted.
